ISLAY SCOTCH

The final chapter in our tour of Scotland.  The island of Islay (pronounced "EYE-la") sits off the west coast of Scotland about 50 miles north of Northern Ireland. There are very few trees, but an abundance of peat.  So, when the whiskey makers needed to dry their barley during the malting process, they used peat smoke, giving their whiskey its signature earthy-smokiness. This flavor is one of the most polarizing in the industry.  People either love it or hate it. There is no middle ground. 

Join us for a tasting of Islay scotches. But don't worry, we will have alternate choices for the "haters."
